Ciara: You Have to Ride Hard For Your Man’s Love

Singer Ciara, 24, first found fame in 2004 with single Goodies, followed by hits 1, 2 Step with Missy Elliot and Love Sex Magic with Justin Timberlake. She returns with new album Basic Instinct and single Ride, the video for which has caused controversy.

The video for Ride has proved too saucy for daytime MTV. Does that bother you?
It’s unfortunate because I’m very proud of the video. I have to accept their decision to only show it after 9pm. I had a feeling maybe they’d want to edit some bits here and there but it definitely came as a surprise when a different channel in the US banned it outright.

You ride a mechanical bull in the video. Were you any good at it?
It was fun. I held on OK but it gets a little bit painful after you do it four or five times.

What’s the single about?
It’s about riding hard for your man’s love.
